The Chairman of The Fraser Centre Community Trust, Jonny Russell, was invited to the construction site to carry out a special task in recognition of his role in the creation of the new community hub.

In 2011 Jonny, supported by family and friends, had the vision to regenerate the old picture house into a building suitable for helping the community.

Although the old building was not able to be saved a new facility is being created in its place which will provide a centre for learning, development, arts, entertainment and a café in the heart of the town. It seemed very fitting that Jonny should be invited to be the person to put the first bricks in place on the new development.

Jonny said: “I’m really excited about the building opening and what we are going to be doing for the community. It has been great to see the spaces and the building rising out the ashes: a brand new building for the community, built by the community”

The Trust aim to open the new building in Autumn 2019.

Thank you to Fleming Buildings Ltd.
