The Wee Green Festival is back for its third year! The festival is a celebration of nature, and the local and global environment. Check out our listing of all the fantastic activities taking place on the day. All for free!

Fantoosh Sketching

Art in Nature Pop Up: Blooming Lovely!

Spend a relaxed, playful and therapeutic time at The Wee Green Festival with Lynn from Fantoosh Sketching and the local plants and flowers. 1.30-2.15 pm

 Lynn will walk you through drawing in continuous line technique,amongst other sketchy tips.

All levels welcome and all materials supplied to use, just bring an open heart.

Free sign up spaces from 1pm in the courtyard and allocated on a first come first served basis

Natural Connections

Natural Connections are a local charity running the Heugh Community Garden. Pop along to meet the team to find out more about what they do and to celebrate the launch of ‘Tree Town’ in Tranent. There will be pop in craft activities for kids too!

ChoosePlay

Choose Play will be back in our courtyard brining all the fun and imagination in a free loose parts play session.

Edinburgh Zoo

We’re delighted to welcome the Edinburgh Zoo outreach team for the first time to our centre! We can’t promise you any penguins but they will have loads to engage any animal mad kids!

East Lothian Countryside Rangers

The East Lothian Countryside Rangers will be joining us again this year. Pop along to their stall to find out about local nature and what you can do to help.

Lower Impact Living

Come play the Loop Race with Lil CIC, the fastest, silliest sorting game at the festival. Grab the tongs and dash to sort everyday things into the right loop, and you’ll help us build the map for Tranent’s Local Loop while discovering how much of our stuff never needs to hit the bin.

Also a chance to browse the second hand school uniform rail.

Eco-storytelling

Russell will be back this year with his popular nature based storytelling session and joined this year with his friend Anegret. This is a free activity with a sign up sheet. Children should be accompanied by an adult.

Cycling UK and the Tranent Wombles

Cycling UK will be joining us in our courtyard with their special adapted bike. Angie will be taking people on their bike to visit the Tranent Wombles Forest Garden. These rides are free but bookable and perfect for anyone with reduced mobility. Children must be accompanied by an adult for these trips.

The Forest Garden is a community garden developed and maintained by the Tranent Wombles. Join the Wombles at the garden near Forrester’s to see what an oasis they have created in this special place.

Tranent Allotments

Tranent Allotments are hosting a produce bank as part of the Wee Green Festival. A place to swap excess produce with others!

Tranent Eco-church

Tranent Eco-Church will be joining us at the festival. Encouraging us all to take a moment and be thankful for our world.

East Lothian Active Schools KitStop

The Kit Stop is an East Lothian based sports recycling programme. This programme collects new/no longer used sports equipment and clothing and redistributes it back into our local communities. As well as reducing waste and encouraging a more sustainable East Lothian it helps us all on our fitness journey! Pop along to see what you can pick up.
