The Fraser Centre & Alzheimer Scotland has formed a new partnership for a monthly Movie & Chat Club aimed specifically for people with dementia.

Each month we will be screening a classic movie, creating a fun movie date in a dementia friendly cinema setting with family, friends and support workers welcome.

David Orr, The Fraser Centre Development Manager said: “We are delighted to work in partnership with Alzheimer Scotland to use our facility to help people with Dementia in the local community. Our venue is a perfect setting for these films and we look forward to developing the club and we hope the event will help to bring people together in a social and friendly setting whilst enjoying some old movies.”

Ruth McCabe, Deputy Regional Manager for Alzheimer Scotland said: “We’ve set up this club to give people with dementia and their supporters a protected space where they can relax, be themselves and enjoy the movie.

There’s also time to have a chat with each other over a cuppa and a biscuit. We hope by coming along to the club they feel relaxed and uplifted by the experience.”

Each club starts with refreshments and chat followed by the movie.

The Film choice for April is the Gene Kelly classic movie, Singing’ in the Rain on Thursday 10^th April. Doors open at the Fraser Centre at 10.30am for an 11am start.
